The weather for the meet last Saturday was miserable! Rosati ran in the Washington University High School Meet. There were about 20 schools that had girls represented. Some of the schools were not co-ed. Rosati came in 10th place. I think that is very respectable considering we do not have poll vaulting and our field events program is not so great. Jessi ran in four events, the 100Meter dash, the 4X200 Meter relay, the 400 Meter dash, and the 4X400 Meter relay. She received points for each of her events. That means she was in the top 8 in every race. I know she was not exactly pleased with her times but the weather was brutal, in the low 30s and very windy, and it was her first meet of the season. Here is how she did:100 Meter 13.28 Seconds, 8th place out of 39 runners400 Meter 1:04.62, 7th place out of 38 runners4X200 (800Meter) Relay, 1:54.35, 5th place out of 14 teams4X400 (1600Meter) Relay, 4:19.16, 5th place out of 12 teamsJessi is also listed on the area wide honor roll. Just click on the link that to the right that says St. Louis Prep Sports then girls track and scroll down the right side of the page until you see area honor roll. Enjoy the pictures. I'm including pictures from Devin's tournament in Memphis. Jessi crossing the finish line in the 4X400 relay. She is running anchor this season. Her coach told Kyle and I they wanted to move her to anchor during sectionals last year but they were worried it would freak her out. In last Saturday's meet they replaced one of the runner on Jessi's 4X400 at the last minute. This is the new runner's first year in track. I think the relay will be much better even by this weekends meet.
Jessi out of the blocks on the 400 Meter dash. This was her first time running this race in competition and she had the worst lane. I know she was disappointed with her time. She wants to run the 400 in 60 seconds or less.
Jessi runs the anchor of the 4X200 meter relay. She really does well in that position. She loves to chase down other runners.
Jessi out of the blocks on in the 100 meters. I think she would like to drop this race but since an athlete can participate in 4 events and Jessi is the fastest girl on her team the coaches will keep her in it.
The parents (and some grandparents) pooled their money and got the track and cross country team a tent. It is really nice. It is large enough to hold the girls and it protects them from the elements.
The NORCO soccer team after their last game in the Memphis tournament. It rained and was cold most of the weekend. The sun did come out on Sunday. If you can't tell by the uniforms, the fields were very very muddy!
Devin played goalie during two of the games. He hadn't played in a couple of years. He did really well. He thinks he might want to play more.
Devin has the height to be a good goalie. But he is such a good defender that it is very noticeable when he is not on the field.
The white uniforms didn't last long!
Jessica's track meet was canceled yesterday. She was really bummed. Her next and now first meet for the season will be Saturday at Wash U. It is a huge and very competitive meet. She was hoping to work her jitters out at last nights meet. I'll keep everyone posted on how she does Saturday.
We were in Memphis this past weekend. The only sites we saw while we were there were the hotel, the soccer fields and very muddy 9/10 year old boys. Devin's soccer team played in a tournament. It was rainy, cold and very very very muddy. They lost the first two games and won the last. The boys seemed to have a lot of fun. Thankfully the hotel is use to hosting soccer teams. If not it would have been a long two nights. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. All of us had dinner at Corky's. It is a bar-b-Q place. All of the boys sat at one table. It was a great chance for them to spend some time with each other. They also spent lots of time in the pool. I had considered swimming but once there were 10 4th grade boys in the pool that idea didn't seem so great. Devin played goal for a half in two of the games. He didn't do to badly. He thinks he might want to play it more often. Jessi has her first track meet this Wednesday. She is running the 4X200, 4X400 and jumping the long jump. She also has a huge meet on Saturday. She is running the open 100, the 4X200, the open 400 and the 4X400. She did not run the open 400 last year. Jessi asked her coach if she could try running it. She has set some goals for herself and she really wants to do well. I'll keep you posted on how she does. She is also playing softball so she keeps busy. Our goal is for her to have her license this spring. We are keeping our eye out for a used car that runs well, in decent shape and that gets decent gas mileage. We don't want to pay much more than $3,000. If anyone knows of someone selling a car let us know.No carpeting yet. It is on back order and should be shipped next week. We still have things to put away from our bedroom. Hopefully we can have most of that done before we have to take out everything from our living room and the bonus room upstairs.
I am SO HAPPY with how our floor looks. We aren't done with all of the little stuff at the end but here is our progress so far. Wednesday we took all of the furniture out of the bedroom. We have stuff stashed all over the place. That is the part of the process that drives me CRAZY! Thursday Kyle tore up the carpeting.Friday, our friend Tim came over to help Kyle. They worked most of the afternoon. I was a little (maybe more than a little) stressed because by 6:00 they only had two or three boards in place. They started in the entry way in front of the stairs which was the hardest spot. Both of them were pleased with how things were going. At this point I was pretty sure I was going to be sleeping in the living room for weeks. They both kept reassuring me that the beginning pieces were the hardest and the most important. After these were done things would go much quicker. I have to stop here and mention that I adore Tim but he is a perfectionist. I would not call Kyle a perfectionist but when he does a project he is very precise and wants it done right. So while Tim and Kyle were loving all of the measuring and strategizing and remeasuring and restrategizing and cutting and restrategizing my stress level was rising. I wanted to scream, "Just put the board down!!!!!" (Deep breath) Anyway, Devin had basketball practice Friday night which Tim and Kyle coach. Afterwards Tim came back and he and Kyle worked until midnight on the floor. They were right things did start to go quicker and I was feeling better because the floor was looking fabulous. Saturday, Kyle spent the entire day working on the floor. He was making real progress! I thought for sure he would finish Sunday.Sunday, morning Kyle was feeling all of the work he had done in his knees. I am sure that he was getting tired of working on the floor but I was getting excited because I could see the end. Then, late in the afternoon Kyle smashed his finger. I am not sure exactly what he did but it was bad. He was in a lot of pain, there was blood and it swelled instantly. For awhile I thought we might be making a trip to the hospital. We didn't know how much he was going to be able to use it. We called Tim again. Did I mention how much I adore Tim? Tim came over after Devin's basketball game and helped Kyle finish the floor in the bedroom. We moved our bed back into the bedroom. We have all of our transition pieces in place. Now we have to finish up with the baseboards and move our furniture back. I am truly happy with how the floor looks. Kyle worked really hard and did a great job! Next: Carpeting for the family room, stairs and bonus room. This is our bedroom before we started. We had so much junk stashed around our room. I am not moving anything back that I don't love! Our bedroom after Kyle tore up the carpeting. I couldn't believe how much dust there was under the carpeting.
The finished product. It looks so great! Hopefully the baseboards will be done by the end of next weekend.
