What a Weekend!

Wow, what a weekend!!! I needed to get back to work so I could rest! Friday we spent the night at home. Even Jessi hung out with us. All of the craziness started Saturday morning. Jessi's softball team, The Flash, was in a tournament in St. Charles and Devin's NORCO soccer team was in a tournament past Our Lady of the Snows, in Ill. Our Saturday went like this, volleyball, softball, soccer, and then Trunk or Treat. Our Sunday went like this softball, soccer and more soccer.
Devin played his last volleyball game Saturday morning. All of the boys showed a lot of improvement during the season.

I really hope Devin plays again next year. I know we are busy but I think it is good for him to do something other than soccer. I also think his coach does a great job with the boys and she really knows volleyball.

The Flash played in a tournament this weekend. They started out well but struggled in the rest of their games. They have a break until after Christmas. I think their season may start in March. I will miss softball.

Devin and Andy at Trunk or Treat. We had to rush from the soccer game to be there. In case you can't tell, Devin is an escaped convict who got into a knife fight and Andy is Bobophet (I am sure I am spelling that wrong) from Star Wars.
Kyle, Jim, and Kevin hang out while the kids race around the parking lot getting hyped up on sugar. White Castles and candy can only lead to one thing......... an upset stomach!

We missed the first game of the tournament. NORCO tied 1 to 1. We heard we should have won but that we struggled some. We won our next two games which sent us to the championship. The boys have not always played consistently this season but they played well every game after the first. Here Devin is taking a full back kick. Our defense was great all weekend. Though, I may be a little bias since my son plays fullback.

Devin definitely didn't feel 100% during the weekend. He can't seem to shake his cough. But he played very well. This is one of his many corner kicks.

Here are the BFC 2007 tournament champs! The boys were so proud of themselves. During the championship game the opposing team's fans and coach were warned by the officials that they were going to be thrown out of the tournament if they didn't change their behavior. The officials did a great job of calling the game. Probably the best officials we have ever had. Our boys were physical but we were called for the fouls. So I am not sure why their fans were upset. They were encouraging their boys to hurt our players. One of their players ended up getting a yellow card for shoving one of our players after a play. In the Missouri soccer leagues the games are much more physical than what we saw over the weekend. Anyway, through it all the NORCO players, coaches, and fans were positive and good sports.
In the end, you can count on boys to be boys!

New Websites

I posted two new web sites this morning. My friend Juliette told me about The Fly Lady web site a long time ago. I really like it. It truly helps me keep my house in better shape. Not always "company ready" but not out of control either. Some days I do better than others but it does help me to view all of the things I need/want to do in more manageable chunks. The Missus Smartypants Web site is fairly new to me. I really love it! I cleaned out my entire closet. Well, except for my shoes. Those of you who really know and love me, know about my love affair with heels. Anyway, I like everything in my closet and feel better in what I wear. The list of necessities that every woman should own is great. I do not have everything on the list but I am working on it! Both of these web sites go along with my philosophy, "If I/we don't love it I don't want it in our house". My mom teases me about that all of the time. But think about it. Your home is where you should feel safe, loved and comfortable. It should be a place that nurtures your spirit, your family and your friends. Why would you want to keep things that don't hold happy memories? Why keep something that doesn't bring you joy? The things in your house are just that, things. If what ever it is doesn't bless your house give it to someone whose home it will bless! Happy cleaning/decluttering and shopping everyone!!!!

Softball Banquet

Last night was Rosati's sports banquet for softball. It was a very nice evening. I think 6 out of the 12 ladies on the team are Seniors. There was lots of hugging and some tears during the presentations. One parent took pictures at every game during the year. She put together a CD and gave each player a copy. Another parent put together a booklet with each players over all stats for the year and their stats for each game. I can not say enough how great the ladies on the Rosati softball team are. Kyle and I are already looking forward to next year!

Rosati: 2007 Softball District champs. It is odd to see the team dressed up with their hair done and no dirt on their clothes. Each of these young women is smart, athletic, and beautiful.

Mary drove Jessi and Julie home from softball practice. They still ride home with her now that softball is done.

Jessi and Julie, the two sophomores on the team. They had a great year and loved being a part of the varsity team.

Julie, Erin, and Jessi. Erin is the starting pitcher for the softball team. She is a junior so she will be back again next year. Jessi occasionally goes with Erin to her pitching lessons and catches for her.

Kate drove Jessi to most of the softball games. She played first base. She is a senior this and I know Jessi will really miss her next year.

End Of A Season

Well, Rosati lost last night. I think the score was a whole lot to nothing. Jessi made a great catch in center field. There were no tears after the game. I am pretty sure the girls had decided they were going to lose before the game started. Anyway, if you are a softball fan there is no need to worry because Jessi is going to play on a "year round" softball team, The Flash. (Kind of appropriate considering her speed.) We wouldn't want to have to much free time on our hands! She has decided not to play basketball for Rosati so she will have time to get ready for track.

Devin's volleyball season ends in October but his outdoor soccer season goes into November. Devin has been playing great this season! I wish I could say that once soccer is done our winter will be less crazy but I know better!

District Champs!

Rosati won their Softball District Championship this past Saturday. They played Trinity and won in 7 innings 4 to 3. Each of the last two times we played them we went to 10 innings. We lost the first game and won the second. This is the second year in a row Rosati has won districts. The Sectional Championship game is this Wednesday. Rosati will be playing St. Dominic who hasn't lost a game all season. We played them twice. It would be a huge upset for Rosati to win but anything is possible. These pictures are a little washed out because it was a really sunny day.

Jessi made a fantastic catch early in the game.
She plays left field and she caught the ball in short center.

I was holding my breath the whole time she was running
towards the ball. I was concerned she'd lose the ball in the sun.
But, no worries! It was very dramatic.

Jessi scored Rosati's first run of the game.

Softball and Homecoming

Rosati plays their first softball game in the district tournament tomorrow, Friday afternoon. If they win they play for the district championship Saturday morning. Rosati won districts last year and I know they really hope to repeat again this year.

Jessi went to Homecoming last weekend. A bunch of girls met up for diner before the dance. Jessi went bowling and spent the night at a friends house afterwards. She was really tired the day afterwards. I doubt she got much sleep. All things considered she had a good time and she looked beautiful as always.

Jessi playing left field with her game face.

Jessi has struggled some this year with her hitting but has managed to steel quite a few bases.

The seniors were honored at the last home game. Kate drove Jessi to most of the games this year. I know Jessi is going to miss her next year.

I am not sure how it started but there was a frosting fight. This picture doesn't really show how truly messy Jessi and Julie were. Some of the seniors were even worse! I am glad they didn't ride home in my car.
Jessi and Marissa before Homecoming.

Jessi and Julie. They clean up pretty nicely.
Refer to the frosting picture above!

It took me a minute to figure out who the beautiful girl in the middle is. She is Erin, Rosati's pitcher. I usually only see her with her hair up in a pony tail and a mouth guard on so I didn't recognize her!
